This volume is a memoir of a visit made by Andrew Riemer to his country of origin in 1991. He migrated to Australia from Hungary with his family when he was ten. He returns to the house in which he spent the first years of his life, and he frequents the "vanilla and coffee smelling" cafes which are such an integral part of Hungarian life. He observes and comments on the extraordinary changes that have taken place in Eastern Europe since he left it. Andrew Riemer has written his autobiography, "Inside, Outside".
