Nick Pope seeks to bring alien abduction out of the tabloids and into the broadsheets. During the three years he spent as the Ministry of Defence's UFO investigator Pope was frequently caught between helping people who claim to have been abducted by aliens make sense of their experiences, and the Ministry of Defence's official line, which, he claims, is to ignore them. Pope argues that this represents the ultimate failure of defence. He argues that abduction is a terrifying and physically real phenomenon that demands an official response. This study uses many real-life cases in its attack on conventional science and prejudiced officialdom.
