Matt Fish, a young academic at Melbourne University, goes into a sharp mental decline after witnessing first an armed hold-up followed by the death of his authoritarian and distant father. He begins to imagine he is the reincarnation of Galen, the pioneering medical practitioner from the 2nd century, believing he can restore life.
